Creative workshops for students to foster greater connection within the classroom.
Discover how young people learn to look beyond first impressions. In the creative workshop "Seeing & Being Seen," they work with portraits and stories centered on self-image, respect, and connection.
Making participants aware of their own feelings and those of others
Through this offering, participants develop greater self-confidence, enabling them to share their feelings safely within the group.
Learning about the theory and psychology behind portraying one another with dignity, by engaging in hands-on work with the camera.
"School of Humanity conducted a workshop for 15- to 18-year-olds at our Vocational Training Center (Arbeidstrainingscentrum). Using portraits, statements, and questions, the session sparked honest and open conversations. The young people felt comfortable examining their own assumptions and got to know one another better. This fostered greater understanding, increased consideration for each other, and genuine connection.
The trainers were receptive to the young people’s stories and provided the space for them to engage in dialogue with one another. Thanks to the flexibility of the workshop, the exercises were both appropriate and effective."

The portraits and stories from the Museum of Humanity are central to the workshops led by our dedicated trainers. In one of the exercises, participants begin by selecting a portrait from our collection. They share their initial impressions with one another before turning the photograph over to read the actual story behind it. Did their first impression—or the judgment they formed—align with the person’s true story?
In 2025, School of Humanity reached over 1,000 participants through 38 sessions—ranging from primary school classrooms to museum spaces—transforming these settings into venues for genuine conversations about identity, prejudice, and connection. With a new workshop program designed for primary education, we continue to foster a generation that learns to observe without judgment and understands that every human being matters.
Complete your collaboration with School of Humanity by having students create their own ‘Humanity’ exhibition at school. First, they learn the art of portrait photography—focusing on both technical skills and the human being behind the lens. The subsequent lessons foster deeper insight and self-reflection, culminating in a school-wide exhibition featuring the portraits they have taken of one another.
